Captain America’s First Superhero Team

Marvel movies are known for their subtle Easter eggs, and this time, we’re talking about the best Easter egg shown in the 2011 movieCaptain America: The First Avenger. Revolving around the origin story ofChris Evans’ character, the movie showed Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes as friends and fellow soldiers.

It was also the first MCU movie that featured the original Human Torch in a particular scene where Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes visit the World Exposition of Tomorrow in 1943. Although the character appeared for the first time in 1939’s Marvel Comics #1, it got a special appearance in a glass display inCaptain America: The First Avenger.

This appearance from the Human Torch in the MCU suggests that it has no relation to the one inFantastic Four(the Johnny Storm version). Instead, it’s James Hammond (Earth-616 version) who fights the Nazis in World War II as a part of the superhero team – The Invaders. Apparently, according to the comics, The Invaders consisted of the Human Torch, his partner Toro, Namor the Submariner, Union Jack, Bucky Barnes, and Captain America.

As perLooper, this MCU appearance of the Human Torch inCaptain America: The First Avengersuggests that Steve Rogers was a part of The Invaders before he joined The Avengers. According to the theory, Steve led the Howling Commandos and The Invaders together during WW2, as noted in the comics, and the Easter egg served as a supporting theory to the comics.
