Take any random film directed by Zack Snyder, and hordes of his fans will probably argue that the theatrical ‘cut’ falls short of capturing the true brilliance of the director. From the much-discussedZack Snyder’s Justice League(2021) to the director’s extended take onWatchmen(2009), the director’s cuts are arguably even more beloved than the theatrical versions.

Although he is now able to release his favorite versions of most of his films thanks to his devoted fan base, Snyder still has one more film he’d like to try. According to Snyder, who recently spoke with Empire, he is still not satisfied with the way his 2011 flickSucker Punchturned out, and thus, he still wants to “fix” it. Well, it seems fans might need to exercise some patience.
Could Zack Snyder’s Cut SaveSucker Punch?
Given thatZack Snyderhas shown a willingness to experiment with different edits of his films, it should come as no surprise that there are two versions ofSucker Punchin addition to an extended cut (seeScreen Rant). The EmilyBrowning and Abbie Cornish starrer was not a hit at the box office andreceived negative reviewswhen it was released in 2011 (Rotten Tomatoes).

Over the years, the300director has expressed his desire quite vocally to release hisSucker Punchdirectorial cut, and he remains interested in doing so.When asked recently about one of his films that he would like to see changed, he said thatSucker Punchis the only one because“it never really got finished correctly”.

Snyder toldEmpire:
“The only movie I would change is Sucker Punch because it never really got finished correctly. Even the director’s cut is not really the correct cut. It’s really just an extended version. If I had the chance, I would fix that movie. I have the footage already shot. They just have to let me put it together.”
He explained that the director’s cut is simplyan extended versionand that the footage for his cut has already been shot; all he needs is permission from the studio to assemble it.

Enough of these constant fan campaigns and different cuts!

I get one or two because then that is a special event, but I am starting to think this is part of his plan every time a movie goes into production.

What is the backstory of the Snyder cut onSucker Punch? Despite having an actual budget of $82 million, the film failed to impress at the box office (seeBox Office Mojo). The movie made $89.7 million after going into theaters, which was hardly enough to cover its cost. This suggests that Warner Bros. suffered financial losses on the film as a result of its appalling box office results.
StarringEmily Browningas ‘Babydoll’, the film hasalso garnered a resounding negative reception. Sadly, the movie has a 22% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while the audience score is 47%.
