With three different developer studios taking charge of multipleCODseries,Call of Dutytitles can feel drastically different each year. Although this allows for a different gameplay experience each year, it does split the community, with many players often pitting the popularBlack OpsandModern Warfareseries against each other.

It seems as though the two could be about to get a lot closer though, as an insider claims the narrative of the two huge series could be about to align.

Insider States Modern Warfare and Black Ops Narratives Could Align In The Future

An exclusive report by reputableCall of Dutyinsider,TheGhostOfHope, states that Infinity Ward and Treyarch Studios have begun working together in order to align the narratives of theModern WarfareandBlack Opsseries.

Although further details weren’t specified by Hope, such as when we can expect this to happen, fans likely shouldn’t expect it anytime soon. withCall of Duty: Modern Warfare IIset to release this October, a newWarzoneexperience will also be launching at some point this year.

It’s possible that the decision to align the narratives of bothModern WarfareandBlack Opsis to aid the progression ofWarzone. In the past,Warzonelaunched shortly after the release of the 2019 reboot,Modern Warfare. Each year after, the latestCall of Dutytitle was integrated intoWarzone, often making for a slightly chaotic experience, both in gameplay and narrative.

Back in February, Infinity Ward’s Pat Kelly wenton recordsaying that when “Black Ops Cold War was added to Warzone, Warzone didn’t feel like Modern Warfare anymore, but also didn’t feel like Black Ops either”. Kelly then went on to state that Infinity Ward would be working to make this less of an issue in the future.

If the stories of bothModern WarfareandBlack Opsbecome more aligned, it could make for an easier transition intoWarzoneeach year.
