The game’s most competitive multiplayer mode launched in November with the start of Season 1, and while the game has undoubtedly enjoyed runaway success, gamers are crying foul over rampant cheating. It feels like virtually every post on X, formerly known as Twitter, by the officialCall of Dutyaccount is filled with replies concerning cheaters in-game.
Call of Duty Now Doing Hourly Purges To Combat Cheaters
While the sentiment is appreciated, Call of Duty fans are unsure how effective this all is.
Activision admits in ablog poston the officialCall of Dutywebsite that the team “did not hit the mark” when launching their RICOCHET Anti-Cheat at the start of the season. The team says that the anti-cheat systems performed well during theBlack Ops 6launch, allowing them to shift their focus to prepare for the start of the game’s first season. They’ve been working hard with updates and say their systems are better equipped today.
The team is focused on ensuring they “deliver the competitive arena our players seek.”

Our focus is ramping up speed of enforcement when cheaters do make it through our initial checks, which eliminates many bad actors before they make it into the game. We use a series of systems that include human reviews, kernel driver detections to block memory tampering, client-side and server-side detections to flag suspicious behavior, and AI systems to get illicit accounts out of the game as quickly as possible.
Looking forward, the team is developing major updates for RICOCHET Anti-Cheat systems, including our kernel-level driver and brand-new server-side protections, launching during Season 02 and Season 03. More on those updates as we get closer to those season launches.
