In the modern era of entertainment, the relationship between fans and actors has evolved rather dramatically. However, it has not always been for the better. In fact, this shift in dynamics was extremely evident in the treatment ofBreaking Badstar, Anna Gunn who played Skyler White, andGame of Thrones’Lena Headey’s character, Cersei Lannister. Although both women had major roles in their respective shows, their characters were not always well-received by the fans.

While both Headey and Gunn got their fair share of online hate, it seemed to go down a little easier for the 56-year-old. After all, unlike her counterpart, the actress did not have to deal with people hounding her in the streets.
Anna Gunn sheds light on the hate she received as Skyler White
In a recent interview withThe Hollywood Reporter,Breaking Badstar,Anna Gunntook a trip down memory lane to discuss her time on the award-winning show. Although she looked back at much of it fondly, the actress could not help but recall the hate she had gotten during her time playing Walter White’s wife. Luckily for the star, the mean comments did not seep into her real life as she stayed off social media for the longest time.
Nobody ever came up to me in person and said, “Oh my God, I hate you!” People don’t do that. They save that stuff for the internet because, for the reasons that we all know, it’s anonymous, and it’s hidden and people can let it fly. So they say things that they would never say to a human being’s face, but it did become upsetting at times.

Gunn continued,“Sometimes, the comments could turn threatening or violent, and that concerned me. So I just didn’t want to feel bullied by all that, and I felt that it was my responsibility to stand up and answer to it, which is what I did.”She even admitted thatshe too hated the character, when she watched the show for the first time. With the actress only having to deal with the online world, it might have been a little easier for her. However, it was a whole different story forLena Headey.

Headey continued by adding that not all the interactions had been bad. In fact, she said,“People say I love her (Cersei) and I kind of worry more for them.”Although the actress may have had a love-hate relationship with the fanbase, there is no doubt that she stirred such a reaction only because of her amazing acting skills.
