Avatar: The Last Airbenderremains a cult favorite anime series. It’s held in high regard for its high quality of writing, appealing to not only younger viewers, but adults of all ages. There has already been one live-action attempt at adapting the fan favorite series. In 2010 director M. Night Shyamalan delivered what many consider to be the worst film of his rocky career. Following the success of films likeThe Sixth SenseandSigns, the filmmaker was alleged to be “the next Steven Spielberg.” However, following a series of critical and box office flops, the once renowned filmmaker had a fall from grace. His swing atAvatar: The Last Airbendermarked the lowest point in his career, although he’s had something of a comeback in recent years.

Now, over ten years later, we’re getting another live action adaptation of the popular animated series. This time it’s Netflix bringing the fantastical world to live with a brand new series, set to premier on the streaming giant February 22, of 2024. As fans are waiting anxiously, excited but cautious for what’s to come, Netflix has dropped some brand new images to help ease the anticipation. So far, these pictures look great, but take a look for yourself.

Gordon Cormier plays the role of Aang, the last of the Air Nomads and the main character of the series. He may only be 12-years-old, but Aan is the titular “Avatar,” a being with the ability to master and manipulate all four elements. In the newly released image we get our best look at the new iteration of the character and we have to say… it looks on point.
