Offering the classic origin story of Jaime’s powers and touching on the Khaji Da Scarab’s past, Blue Beetle also presents a traditional fight between a hero and a megalomaniac. We explain Blue Beetle’s ending and what happened to villains Conrad Carapax and Victoria Kord.
Blue Beetle Ending Explained
After Jenny, Jaime, and Rudy stole the Smartwatch from Kord Industries,Jenny was able to take Jaime to her father, Ted Kord’sbase, where it was revealed that he was the previous Blue Beetle. However, since the Scarab didn’t pick Ted to be its host, Ted decided to make Blue Beetle tech himself and continue fighting crime without the powers of theKhaji Da Scarab.
The Reyes family home is then targeted byVictoria Kordand her men, resulting in the house being set on fire and Jaime’s father dying of a heart attack. Jaime is subsequently captured by Victoria and brought back to Kord Industries in order to extract the Scarab from his body—which will ultimately kill him. Meanwhile, the Reyes family and Jenny have taken Ted Kord’s old tech in order to rescue Jaime.

As Victoria’s machine begins killing Jaime, Carapax is having a dilemma of his own and loses control by fusing himself to one of Victoria’s OMACs (One Man Army Corps) to become a lethal, indestructible machine and a living variant of DC Comics’ Indestructible Man. Meanwhile, Jaime is fighting for his life in limbo, where he meets with his late father and decides to accept his destiny by becoming one with the Khaji Da Scarab, showcased by recreating the Creation of Adam fresco by Michelangelo. Before Carapax can kill everyone in sight, Dr. Sanchez betrays Victoria and helps Jaime escape once he regains consciousness.

Jenny and Milagro do their part by defeating a few of Victoria’s men with Ted’s tech, while Rudy goes to find Jaime, and Nana Reyes proves herself to be a powerhouse behind Ted’s mega gun. After Jaime defeats Carapax and Victoria, the whole family is reunited once again within the VTOL bug craft. The family then has time to grieve for Robert, and the conclusion of the movie shows Jenny taking over Kord Industries, offering to rebuild Reyes’s home, and finally getting together with Jaime.
The mid-credits scene reveals that Ted Kord is not dead, as we were previously led to believe, which teases the arrival of Jenny’s father in future DC projects. Ted inherited the Scarab from the first Blue Beetle, Dan Garrett, an archeologist who discovered the Khaji Da within a Pharaoh’s temple in the comics. Only Ted’s voice can be heard during the transmission, but some DC fans are convinced that it’s the voice of Ted Lasso actor Jason Sudeikis.

Carapax terminates himself by triggering the suit’s self-destruct mode, and he drags Victoria into the blast radius with him, killing them both.
During the final battle between Jaime, Carapax, and Victoria, Jaime comes very close to killing Carapax, but the Khaji Da Scarab stops him by reciting his previous moral of not killing anyone. Carapax had previously stated that Jaime’s love for his family makes him weak, but Jaime explains that his love for them makes him stronger.
This sentiment triggered a flashback of Carapax when he was a young child soldier, revealing that his home was destroyed by Victoria. She was also responsible for the death of his mother, and after his loss, Victoria recruited him to become her super soldier. Realizing that Victoria was the enemy and not Jaime triggered Carapax to target Victoria in order to end her plan to turn the Scarab into a weapon of war.
Carapax’s blind servitude is somewhat understandable, but Victoria’s mission to build weapons of war to assume a higher state of power is somewhat excessive. It was previously revealed that after Victoria’s father, and former CEO of Kord Industries, died, she was bypassed as his successor, with the head position going to her brother, Ted, instead—implied as a sexist sign of the times. Ted had previously forbidden Victoria from developing her OMACs, which suggests Victoria’s drive to go through with her plan was a rebellious response with him out of the picture. Therefore, Jenny, Ted’s daughter, and Victoria’s niece, felt it was her responsibility to stop Victoria in his stead.
