Attack on Titan, created by Hajime Isayama, is about Eren Yeager. He sees his mom get eaten by a Titan during an attack on Shiganshina. The Colossal and Armored Titans cause this attack. This sad event makes Eren want revenge against all Titans. Later, he learns he can turn into a Titan himself.

The manga ended in 2021 and got a lot of criticism for its ending. Interestingly, mangaka Isayama had a different ending in mind when he started writing in 2009. And the original idea was even worse than what we got.

TheAttack on TitanEnding Where Everyone Dies
A YouTuber namedAnime Quotamade a video talking about the ending of theAttack on Titanmanga. The original ending was controversial, but the YouTuber said that the creator, Hajime Isayama, had a different ending in mind at first.
According to the YouTuber, in the beginning of the manga, the main character, Eren Yeager, had a dream that hinted at what would happen later in the story.

In the dream, he saw the wall falling, the Titan that killed his mom (the smiling Titan), and characters like Sasha, Connie, Armin, Mikasa, Jean, and Levi all dead in a forest. According to the YouTuber, this was how the ending was initially intended, with everyone meeting a tragic fate.

If this happened, the ending would be darker than the original. However, we still got a sad ending in the manga, with many characters surviving, but the cycle of war continues, and nothing has changed.
Why Do People Dislike the Original Manga Ending?
In the end ofAttack on Titan, Mikasa goes into the Founding Titan’s mouth, and Eren shows her a different timeline where they spent the last four years together. But their escape wouldn’t change the upcoming war, so the only way to stop the cycle of hate is by killing Eren. Mikasa beheads him.
Mikasa tells Armin about Eren’s death, and they mourn. Mikasa takes Eren’s head to give him a proper burial and leaves the battlefield. The Titans’ power disappears, and Eldians become normal humans.

However, fans find issues with the ending. Armin convinces Zeke to sacrifice himself, which seems out of character. Eren’s behavior changes towards Mikasa and Armin at the end, and fans are puzzled. Ymir being in love with King Fritz doesn’t make sense either given how he treated her. Despite Eren being the Founding Titan, Mikasa is portrayed as the one in love, similar to Ymir’s situation.
