Battlefield 6 Will Ship With Nine Total Maps At Launch

At the Battlefield 6 reveal event, DICE confirmed that the game will ship with nine maps in total, and it will be comprised of eight original creations, with one remake of a fan-favorite Battlefield 3 level.

Nine maps in total might not be a lot, but it’s a number comparable to past Battlefield games. For reference, Battlefield 2042 launched with just seven maps, and the most maps at launch for a BF game is Battlefield 4, which launched wth 10.

Alongside the map count, DICE also discussed the shooter’s class system, which will feature four classes similar to those in past Battlefield games.

The trailer showcases some of the gadgets associated with each class and what each can do on the battlefield.

DICE is introducing a new combat system, which the studio calls “kinesthetic,” that’s featured in the trailer. Players can now drag fallen comrades while reviving them to avoid enemy gunfire (and it just looks cool). You can now mount weapons on cover, and the peek and leaning shooting mechanics are also coming back as well.

This also adds a new way to ride vehicles. Players can now “hitch a ride” alongside vehicles by hanging on their back.

Classes will once again be comprised of: Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon.While DICE is still undecided on whether weapons will be locked to classes or not, each class will also have signature traits that help make each class unique outside of the gadgets they can use in combat.

Based on what’s revealed, Battlefield fans are in for something special come October 10. Let’s just hope DICE can continue it with solid support. There’s alsothe battle royale mode, which will be revealed at a later date.
