While crossplay has been one of the best things to happen to online multiplayer games, it also presents a problem among gamers, as most console players don’t want to play against PC players due to the advantage of mouse and keyboard controls, as well as the issue of cheating, which more often than not, happens on PC due to the platform’s open nature.
ForBattlefield 6, DICE has talked about crossplay, and while it won’t fully implement console-only crossplay, the developers have thought of the next best thing.

Console players will be happy with what one DICE producer has shared recently.

Battlefield 6 Crossplay Prioritizes Console Players Against Other Console Players
Over on X (formerly Twitter), DICE producerAlexia Christofiexplained how crossplay works in Battlefield 6. While there’s no console-only crossplay feature, the devs are making sure console players are matched against other console players first, before dipping into the PC player pool.
Christofi shared, “it’s crossplay on or off - but if crossplay is on we treat it as console preferred crossplay, so we’ll try and matchmake you with others playing on console before falling back to full crossplay if we can’t find you a match with only/mostly console players.”

This applies to all console platforms, so PS5 players will first exhaust the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S player base before matching them against PC.
As a console player, this is a move I highly approve of, and DICE seems to have found a good middle ground for both parties.
