Split-screen Couch Co-op on PC
The game will allow you toassign existing party members to the second playerand give them the option to create a new character if they want to.
Both players need to play on controllers. One player playing on Keyboard/Mouse and the other one on controller or both using KB/M is not supported. Using third-party software to spoof the game into thinking you’re using a controller when you’re really using KB/Mcanwork, but it’s not ideal.
Split-screen Couch Co-op on PS5 & Xbox X
You can also connect the second controller in the middle of a campaign, and the game will ask you to assign some party members to the player using the second controller, as well as give them the option to create a new character.
Couch co-op split-screen is not supported on Xbox Series S.
Playing split-screen on consoles willforce the game down to 30fpsdown from 60fps (if you had that enabled). Currently, this is thelimitation of the hardwarewith no workarounds.Larianmay optimize their game further in the future, but it is not possible to play 60fps split-screen co-op right now.
Can You Play Online While Playing Couch Co-op
Yes, you can. Baldur’s Gate 3 allows a 4-player party co-op using multiple configurations.Four players using four devices, two players playing split-screen co-op with two players using two devices, and even four players using two split-screen machines can work.
Unlike the Divinity games, Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t offer dynamic split-screen where the screen merges when the two players are close to each other.
