How To Find Scratch
Scratch can be found in Act 1 near the Owlbear Cave. This cave is the same place you canfind the Owlbear Cub, so you will want to stop in both places. you may find Scratch standing over his owner’s lifeless body, refusing to move. If you tell him that he can join you, he will appear in camp a few days later.
Who Are Scratch’s Owners?
After traveling with Scratch from Act 1 all the way until Act 3, you are going to get quite close to the dog.Once you arrive in Rivington on the outskirts of Baldur’s Gate, you can meet the Sword Coast Couriers.This group of couriers can be found near the Rivington Windmill (the same place as the newly-born Mind Flayer). Speaking to the woman there, you will learn that Scratch’s old owner was a member of the Sword Coast Couriers and that Scratch belongs to them.When you call for Scratch, he will be terrified. You will see the dog with his tail tucked between his legs and his ears lowered, a clear sign of distress in dogs. It doesn’t take much to deduce that these people have been abusive to Scratch. You can threaten the woman and tell her that Scratch will stay with you, leading to her leaving.
If you sneak into the Sword Coast Courier’s backyard and release the dogswithoutspeaking to the woman there, they will attack and kill her.
What Happens To Scratch’s Dog Friends?
You will notice that there are other dogs that are trapped with these horrible people. If you character threatens the owner of the place, she will leave. After that, the halfing will let the rest of the dogs go and promise to take better care of them. This shows that these poor dogs won’t have to live like this any longer.
