InBaldur’s Gate 3, theArcane Towerin theUnderdarkis protected by an automatic defense system, the Arcane Turrets. For players hoping to explore the Tower, either to completeOmeluum’s questor just for the sake of curiosity, knowing how to get past the Arcane Turrets to reach the Tower is key.

Despite how difficult to tackle they might appear at first glance, the Arcane Turrets are easy to bypass if you know their weakness. BG3’s commitment to player choice shines through here, as depending on your character’s capabilities, this task can be either impossibly difficult or fairly straightforward.

Disable Arcane Turrets Using Lightning

If you have a character that can deallightning damage, like aTempest Clericor aWizardwho knowsWitch Bolt, you can cast these spells on the Arcane Turrets to disable them directly.Scrollsalso work for this purpose, but keep in mind that these turrets are quite far from one another, so it’s unlikely that you’ll catch them all using a single spell scroll.

To disable all of the turrets, a spell likeCall Lightningis excellent, as it can be cast turn after turn without the need to recast. This way, you can disable all of the turrets with just a single level 3 spell slot. Shadowheart can naturally learn this spell if you choose theTempest Domainsubclass for her.

Sneak Past Arcane Turrets

If you have access to theInvisibilityspell, you can directly sneak past the Turrets, as they don’t have the ability to see invisible characters. Alternatively, you can also use a spell likeFog CloudorDarknessto block a Turret’s vision and walk past it. The turrets can’t fire if they can’t see you.

This is even better than lightning because if you place the spell on top of the Turret, your whole party can go through the area without worry. And since these spells typicallylast for 10 Turns, you’ll have plenty of time.

Deactivate Arcane Turrets Using Sussur Blooms

Sussur Blooms have a natural magic nullification effectin the game. And since every Arcane Turret runs on ‘Arcane’ energy, i.e., Magic, they will naturally shut down if a Sussur Bloom is in their vicinity.Throw one of these anti-magic flowers at an Arcane Turret, and it will automatically shut down. Conveniently, Sussur Blooms can be found nearby.

To find these flowers,

Whoever carries this flower will not be able to cast Magic as long as they have it on their person. Someone like Lae’zel is the ideal carrier for this.

Now, while youcanuse the Sussur Blooms to disable the Arcane Turrets one by one, all of these turrets also have anoff switch, activated using a Sussur Bloom. Enter the locked door leading inside the Tower, and you’ll find a receptacle in front of thedisabled elevator.
