Now that it’s been some time since mods were finally brought to console forBaldur’s Gate 3, there’s finally a good selection to choose from when you open up the Mod Manager and start your game. Some mods, however, reign supreme over all.
Of course, there’s the classic, hilarious mods likeWithers Big Naturals, but these mods below change the game experience so significantly it’s worth playing through at least once.

Baldur’s Gate 3: 10 Best Honour Mode Builds
Honour Mode is a brutal challenge to new and veteran players of Baldur’s Gate 3. These are the best builds to help get through it.
There are several mods that work similarly or do the same thing, so for those, I will be combining them all into one umbrella entry. Other mods are specific to their creators.

One thing is for sure for all of these mods, though – they’re unspeakable amounts of fun.
10Adjustable Party/Poly Fix
Enhance Your Party (And Romance)
The standardDungeons & Dragonsparty size is four, so of course, BG3 aimed to replicate that. That said, having only three companions with you can feel lonely, so there are plenty ofAdjustable Partymods that counter this.
Plus, combined with aPoly Fixmod, and you’ll be able to romance everyone in your party and travel with them all at the same time. If you’re someone like me who loves every single character and struggles to determine who I’m bringing and romancing in each playthrough, this is a delight.

It’s also one of the easiest ways to progress everyone’s storylines and earn their approval without having to run back and forth to camp. This is often one of the first mods that people snag if they want a different vibe for their next playthrough.
Just keep in mind that with these mods, you will have to go back down to a party of four before every long rest, and you’ll be actively stretching out each encounter. If that doesn’t bother you, then go ahead and take the entire cast of Baldur’s Gate 3 with you, and maybe give them a little smooch, too.

9Faerûn Colours Dyes
Look Cool The Entire Game
The dyes that are in-game suck –badly. The only good one in the vanilla game is Black and Furnace Red, or other “Black and” dyes, meaning that many articles of clothing won’t look too good until you get to Carm’s Garms in Act 3.
Because of this,Faerûn Colours Dyesis a mod that gives you an entire chestful of different dyes based on various deities in Faerûn, allowing you to look your best and still be lore-accurate. This way, you can actually look good from the very start.

You get the dyes in the Nautaloid, but if you happen to miss them there, you may easily purchase the dyes from the vendors all across the map, so you don’t have to worry about looking goofy anymore.
Just saying, whose idea was it to make the Monk’s starting clothes look like that? Dying them at least saves your Tav from looking absurdly cartoonish.
8Hair Unlocked/New Faces
Spice Up Your Tav’s Look
Some of the most popular, iconic mods are the ones that alter the aesthetics of the game – and your Tav in thecharacter creation.
Mods likeHair UnlockedandNew Facesremove the barrier between PC and NPC features, allowing you to claim the same hairstyles, eyes, skin, horns, and of course, faces for your Tav. Of course, there are mods that incorporate new designs altogether.
Baldur’s Gate 3: Best Romances for The Dark Urge, Ranked
From Astarion to Shadowheart, these are the best romance choices for Dark Urge in Baldur’s Gate 3.
While I enjoy the character creator in Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s incredibly limited when compared to other RPGs.Skyrimeven has a more in-depth creator. So having new content is a breath of fresh air, especially since we have to see our Tav constantly.
Just keep in mind with these mods that sometimes they don’t blend together well, so don’t overload on the aesthetics.
7Weightless Consumables
Finally, Some Carry Weight
Potentially unpopular opinion — I think carry weight is ridiculous in video games. Sure, it’s realistic to have the limitations, but it’s a video game. Inventory management is outright annoying.
Because of this,WeightlessConsumablesmods make it far easier to carry a bunch of things around. By making your gold, potions, lockpicks, and other consumables weightless, you can now prioritise what you can take with you much more easily.
And, for players like me who horde more gold than a literal dragon, you don’t have to worry about all your wealth weighing you down. Or, if you’re a player who is hit so often they constantly need health potions, you won’t have to worry about taking one too many.
It’s a small quality of life change that works literal wonders in the overall experience. Even if you want to opt forWeightless Goldonly, you can do that too.
6Double XP/XP Multipliers
Level Up Faster
Sometimes, you don’t want to have to wait literal hours before you level up – sometimes you want it to be done a little quicker, which is why XP Multiplier mods are wonderful if you want to level up ASAP.
Personally, I use Double XP so I can still level up quicker, but not so fast that it’s ridiculous. With the other multipliers active, it would be so fast it’s ridiculous. I’ve seen multipliers reach the thousands, which is honestly insane.
Combine this with a mod that removes the Level 12 cap, and you’ve got a lot to look forward to with each level up.
Just be warned, if you go back to the vanilla game after using one of these mods, you’re going to see just how slow progression actually is, and it will drive you mad.
5Inspiration Uncapped
Don’t Ration Your Chances
HavingInspirationin order to re-roll a failed attempt is a fun mechanic in the game. However, you’re capped at four Inspiration at a time… and the gameshowersyou in Inspiration.
Seriously, there’s not a single Background that doesn’t get waves of inspiration throughout all three acts. This isn’t even considering the Backgrounds of your party members, especially if you’re matching.
Baldur’s Gate 3: 10 Most Beautiful Locations
Lae’zel was probably incredibly surprised at how pretty Faerûn actually is.
Needless to say, capping the Inspiration at four suddenly seems difficult to comprehend.Inspiration Uncappedis an excellent way around it. With this mod, there’s no limit on how much Inspiration you’re able to have at a time, and you don’t have to worry about rationing.
Plus, with the amount of times you’ll fail a roll (nothing personal, it’s definitely rigged) in the game anyway, it’s good to have a cushion.
4Improved UI
Get PC-Level UI on Console
I play Baldur’s Gate 3 on myPlayStation 5, as I admittedly don’t have a gaming PC. I often miss out on those games and their improved User Interface (UI) design.
As a console player, it’s clear that the game was definitely built/designed around a PC first and foremost, and the console version came as an afterthought – if it was originally considered at all. It shows in the UI. I’m honestly jealous of PC players.
To combat this, theImproved UImod is a godsend. It has small quality of life changes to the UI, making it significantly cleaner and better overall, but also sets a clean foundation for other mods to easily attach to.
It’s honestly a must when it comes to mods, just for the utility that’s packed with it.
3Fade’s Equipment Sets
Awesome Gear For Your Class
What’s really neat about modded clothing/equipment is that it can simultaneously look cool and be immensely powerful.
WithFade’s Equipmentmods, clothing can be both aesthetically pleasing and powerful, but it’s also balanced enough to where you’re still having fun. You’ll need theFade’s Equipment Distributionmod as a base, as it spreads where the equipment will be throughout all three acts, often dropped as loot.
However, there are additional mods that are connected to this for the individual classes. Currently, there is a set for every single class except for Paladin. The sets appear on the Nautaloid as well and are immense amounts of fun. And if you want a challenge, you can just pick up the Act 1 gear and take off.
Or, if you want a walk in the park, you can put on the Act 3 gear for your class right away and become unkillable. Either way, you’re in for a fun ride.
2Mystra’s Spells
More Options for Spellcasters
I’m a Sorcerer main, and despite the sheer amount of spells that we have access to, it’s somehow surprisingly limited. The same can be said for Wizard,Druid, and Cleric, easily.
Sure, you’re able to be creative with your spells if you want a refreshing experience on a repeat playthrough, or you could look at some forbidden magic in Mystra’s spellbook.
Baldur’s Gate 3: 8 Boss Fights That Can Be Avoided With Charisma Rolls
In Baldur’s Gate 3, players have the ability to simply talk their way out of a fight, including boss fights. These are 8 boss fights.
Mystra’s Spellsgrants dozens more spell options for each class – often more spells from the actual Player’s Handbook and other D&D guidebooks. There are a few fan favourites (includingBiggby’s Hand, forCritical Rolefans), new inclusions, and overall simplymore.
It’s infinitely prolonged the replayability of spellcasters, as the options are now suddenly endless.
1Alternate/Extra Encounters
A Breath of Fresh Air
Without a doubt, the best modthat I’ve ever downloaded for this game is theExtra EncountersandMinibossesmod. In addition to your normal encounters, this mod adds more in areas you wouldn’t expect, and they’re often in-theme with what’s going on.
It’s also incredibly rewarding for Baldur’s Gate players who read and investigate every single detail in their surroundings, as often these extra encounters go hand-in-hand with the vanilla environmental storytelling. At the very least, if you didn’t notice it before, you’ll now be able to read the context for these new encounters.
Plus, it’s altered some (emphasis onsome) original encounters to where things are slightly different, so you’re constantly on your toes about what will come next. It’s like you’re playing the game for the first time all over again.
Seriously, if you want to try any mod, try this one – you’re in for a treat.
Baldur’s Gate 3: 10 Most Evil Dark Urge Choices
The Dark Urge has a plethora of evil choices in Baldur’s Gate 3. These are the worst.
Baldur’s Gate 3
WHERE TO PLAY
23 years on from the release of the seminal RPG, Baldur’s Gate 2, the third game in the series has been developed by Larian Studios (of Divinity: Original Sin fame). Set over 120 years after the events of the last game, Baldur’s Gate 3 tasks you and your party of heroes to fight off a mind flayer invasion of Faerun, while seeking a way to remove the tadpole in your brain that’s slowly turning you into the enemy…
