This weekend at Summer Game Fest, Techlandfinally revealedthe release date for Dying Light: The Beast, a standalone game in the franchise that gamers can purchase and play, even if they don’t own Dying Light 2.
At the event, it was announced that Dying Light: The Beast’s release date is set for June 04, 2025, which is just two months away.

Dying Light: The Beast Will Be Free, But There’s A Catch
Techland is giving out the upcoming Dying Light installment for free as long as the user meets this requirement.
While Dying Light: The Beast is in development for last-gen and current-gen consoles and PC, it appears that the development of the last-gen versions isn’t progressing as well as that of the current-gen versions.

Dying Light: The Beast On PS4 And Xbox One Delayed
On the officialDying Light website, tucked away at the bottom of the page’s FAQ section, it confirms thatDying Light: The Beast’s release on last-gen platforms has been delayed to the “end of 2025,” with no specific date.
Techland states, “Our goal is to make Dying Light: The Beast the best Dying Light game to date. To deliver on this, we’ve prioritised development for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S at launch on June 16, 2025. We will continue optimising versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One after the launch and are committed to releasing them until the end of 2025.”

A last-gen release is becoming less and less common these days, as most game developers fully embrace the advantages of working on the more powerful consoles. That said, the fact that the Dying Light developers can’t nail a release window is a bit concerning.
Dying Light’s Parkour Is Still Leaps And Bounds Above Its Competitors
Dying Light still stands the test of time, especially when it comes to its parkour mechanics
If you’re unfamiliar with the spin-off, Techland describes the game as, “You are Kyle Crane. After being captured by the Baron and enduring his painful experiments for years, you escape. But the scars remain.

Left on the edge of humanity with both human and zombie DNA, you struggle to control your inner beast and the conflict that comes with it. But you’ll need to, if you want to get your revenge on the man who did this to you.
A unique blend of open world and action survival horror, Dying Light: The Beast is set in the beautiful yet dangerous valley of Castor Woods that’s now overrun with zombies rather than tourists. To take your former captor down, you’ll need to form fragile alliances, as well as utilize all the combat and traversal options in your arsenal.”

Even with the release of Dying Light: The Beast, don’t expect support forDying Light 2to stop anytime soon. As the studio is known for supporting their games for a long time, which we’re seeing with the countless fixes and added features for Dying Light 2. Will The Beast have the same level of support? Given it’s a spin-off, I’d expect fixes more than anything else.
Dying Light: The Beast is set for release on August 22 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Last-gen players, you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled to know when it’s coming to the PS4 and Xbox One.
