Attack on Titanis always a hot topic of discussion, the show has become so popular that any mention of the anime is going to spark a discussion. Since the last few days, news, key visuals, and events related to Attack on Titan have been flooding the internet. A few days earlier, a special event had taken place at Tokyo Tachikawa Stage Garden was attended by the voice actors and singers of the series. Anew posterwas also recently revealed.

While there wasn’t much revealed at the event, there were more details forthcoming at the New York City anime event which took place from November 18th to 20th at Javits Convention Centre, New York. The event was attended by the author of Attack on Titan, Hajime Isayama himself, and he discussed the show’s ending and his future plans as well as his inspiration for a few of the characters from the series.

Hajime Isayama has doubted for a long time whether he was liked by Attack on Titan fans, given the series' controversial ending. While criticism remains common for writers, some went so far as to make threats on Isayama’s life. Naturally, Isayama was uncertain about how he would be treated at the event. He even shared a note prior to his visit revealing that he was both excited and anxious about his visit and also requested the fans to be polite with him.

During the event, Hajime revealed that Attack on Titan would be his final project, marking it as the only manga he will ever work on. Isayama revealed he wants to open a spa, rather than work on another manga.

During the event, Isayama apologized to fans for the polarizing ending of the manga. But it seems like fans enjoyed the ending more than he expected, as everyone applauded and cheered him up, leading him to tears. In a message to the fans, he expressed his gratitude toward them and shared that he had been carrying hard feelings for a long time, but all his doubts cleared after meeting the fans. Finally, he shared that coming to New York was a great experience for him.

It’s common for writers to get inspired by multiple TV shows and movies, while characters get inspired by characters from other works. Isayama revealed that the character of Gabi was inspired by Arya Stark from Game of Thrones, while Falco was inspired by Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad.
