Marvel Studios has been leading the box office charts for a long time. But now, it appears that the studio may be expanding its storytelling from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) into the gaming industry.

According to a new report, Marvel Studios is reportedly developing its first video game that will take place directly within the MCU. While Marvel-based video games have been popular for years, this new project would mark the first time a game is officially tied to the MCU. But let’s hope in advance that it doesn’t turn out likeSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
The MCU Could Make a Grand Entry Into Gaming
The MCU has become a cultural phenomenon with its interconnected films and Disney+ series. But Marvel Studios has largely avoided blending its cinematic universe with the gaming side of things. According to the insider known as My Time To Shine Hello, this long-anticipated moment might finally be approaching.

To be clear, we have had good Marvel games before, but they were often loosely connected to the MCU, if at all. Fans can currently play as iconic heroes like Spider-Man, the Avengers, and the Guardians of the Galaxy, but these games largely existed in their own universes.
There is a Marvel Game That’s a Much Better Blueprint for a One Piece Game Than Guardians of the Galaxy
There is little information available, but fans are already wondering what type of game the studio could be developing. Some fans are already asking how Marvel will handle such a project. One thing to worry about is the potential for the game tofollow in the failure of DC’s flop. As one user stated,
Just as long as it’s not some stupid live service game like what DC made.

This shift into gaming could not come at a more critical time for Marvel Studios. While the studio has still gotten some box office hits in the last year, there have been a lot of misses, too.
Movies likeEternalsandAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniawere met with mixed reviews, and some of the Disney+ series’ haven’t done amazing either. The possibility of fans being in a “superhero fatigue” is also a concern.

It Wouldn’t Be New For Marvel, But The MCU Needs Big Wins
The game’s success will largely depend on how well it aligns with the current state of the MCU. With the growing complexity of the MCU’s interconnected films and Disney+ series, some fans feel that the franchise has become difficult to follow.
The idea of an MCU-integrated video game is certainly ambitious, and the studio is no stranger to pushing boundaries when it comes to expanding its universe. It might also attract a new audience of gamers who may not be as invested in the movies but would be drawn in bythe interactive element of games.

Of course, there are still plenty of unanswered questions. Will this new game connect to future MCU films or Disney+ series? How will the storyline fit into the already intricate timeline of the Marvel universe? And perhaps most importantly for gamers, what will the gameplay look like?
Despite the lack of official confirmation, we can learn some clues about what to expect from this MCU-based game from Marvel’s previous collaborations with game developers.
