Announced three years ago, we finally have our first official look at ARC Raiders' gameplay by Embark Studios – the company founded by formerDICE(Battlefield) developers. From its initial reveal as a PvPvE co-op experience, the game has now shifted to become a multiplayer extraction shooter.
For the gameplay reveal, Embark showcases not only the combat but also the title’s post-apocalyptic world.
ARC Raiders Gameplay Features A Mission to Extract Items
In the six-minute clip, we see a squad of three players venture on a quest to extract valuable items within the Buried City of Southern Calbretta, one of the game’s locales. Along the way, players will discover other Raiders, and must proceed with caution, as not every player you meet along the way will be a friend.
Aside from combat and the various abilities of each Raider, we also get treated to our first look at Speranza, the home base of the game and where every adventure begins. Think of it like The Tower in the Destiny franchise, with fewer aliens.

What Is ARC Raiders About?
According to Embark, ARC Raiders has players enter a vast and lethal world where people have fled to the underground colony of Speranza seeking supplies, and trying to survive against the ARC machines on the surface. Players will get to be Raiders, “scavenging the remnants of a lost world.” Players will encounter enemy ARC machines and other players competing for resources. Expect firefights against other squads, though you’re able to also take the stealthier route and avoid confrontations to ensure you get it out alive.
Per the press release from Embark: “ARC Raiders merges high-intensity, time-sensitive extraction challenges on the surface with strategic survival elements below ground, where progression is closely tied to the Raider Workshop. Building and upgrading crafting stations allows for more advanced gear and equipment.”
As one might expect, there are items to collect, weapons to wield, and a skill tree that lets players refine their playstyle.

While announced as Embark’s debut project, ARC Raiders is not the studio’s first released product. Soon after ARC Raiders' reveal, Embark announced and released free-to-play shooterThe Finals.
ARC Raiders will be released in 2025 on PC, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and even on cloud streaming through Nvidia GeForce Now, though no release date has been set just yet.
