While most ofAlan Wake 2gives equal footing to its brilliantly written characters with Saga and Alan Wake, it’s hard not to appreciate what it does for the Remedy Connected Universe on the sidelines.

It’s a universe that excellently connects and interweaves plot elements withControl(and possibly more in the foreseeable future), another critically acclaimed title fromRemedy Entertainment.

This is why we got to see Control’s protagonist Jesse Faden appear inThe Night Springs, and now her brother, Dylan Faden, makes a short appearance in Alan Wake 2: The Lakehouse.

Alan Wake 2: 10 Best Characters In The Game, Ranked

Alan Wake 2 features many incredible characters and performances. This is breaks down the best in the game.

Talking to Dylan in the DLC is not only tied to ahidden trophy/achievement (Murderer and Victim), but his segment also acts as ateaser for Control 2, a sequel still in development, which is pretty cool to see.

So, to avoid missing the chance to talk to him and accidentally jumping straight to the finale, we’ve put together a brief guide to showcase how you may meet and talk to him.

Reach Dr. Diane’s Office In The Lakehouse

You can reach Dylan once you get to Sublevel 4, “Research and Archives.”

Getting to this floor requires you to haveaccess via the Security Clearance 03 keycard, which can be automatically picked up when you get theBlack Rock Launcherin Sublevel 1’s Inventory Management room.

PC-1

Now, the basic gist is that you need to reach Dr. Diane Marmont’s office in Sublevel 4 to be teleported to Oceanview Motel where Dylan is, but reaching the office itself can be slightly tricky.

The only hurdle between her office in the middle of the floor is alabyrinth of sorts filled with the Painted Shadow enemies and the Taken.

PlayStation-1

If you run short on ammo for your weapons here, we highly advise turning on the Infinite Ammo modifier in the gameplay settings menu.

Now, unless you enable any of the cheats to bypass the finale, I strongly suggestoutrunning them here because you’ll fight more of them in the final boss fightof this DLC and you need to conserve your ammo for them.

Xbox-1

You’ll come across several graffiti paint walls where those enemies can emerge from and ambush you, so try to be careful when moving close to them.

To reiterate, you won’t get lost here, just keep following the emerging path, taking down any of the Taken enemies that appear at the halfway point and you should see Diane’s office when you eventually turn a corner.

How To Enter The Oceanview Motel

Getting to Dylan starts with Dr. Diane’s office, there’s a lever outside that you may flip to switch the power and change the layout of her room.

Before flipping the lever, you can solve one of the fivecomputer code puzzleshere. The code is actually written on a sticky note on the monitor screen when you examine it.

You can check out the room if you wish but ultimately to reach Dylan, flip the lever here so that it darkens the office, and be ready for a slight jumpscare herefrom a darkness-possessed Jules.

With the office’s layout now changed, you can also check out a video here of Dr. Diane’s mental stability cracking further, but our main task now is to find three picture collectibles here to trigger a light cord to spawn in the room.

Keep in mind they’re not official names or anything, just an accurate description of the image on each collectible, and you need to examine each one here.

You should now have a new objective to “Pull the light switch cord”.

For people who’ve played Control, this must be familiar to them but you need to essentially pull the cord three times to be transported to the Oceanview Motel.

Meeting And Interacting With Dylan Faden

Once you’ve teleported, head straight, ignore any of the side rooms here since you can’t access them.

It soon hits Estevez that she’s back in the Panopticon, an area originally supposed to be in the FBC Headquarters.

Head through here and up the stairs and you should soon be confronted with Dylan Faden in his containment cell who now has hair and stubble ever since his first appearance in Control.

you’re able to ask him a series of questions regarding his involvement in the events and how he’s able to exist here of all places like that, but most of his cryptic answers have a mystery of their own.

Once your brief confrontation with him is over, a short cutscene will play, featuringglimpses of scenes that look like concept environments for Control 2.

Nothing much is shown beyond that.

You’ll then be teleported back to Dr. Diane’s office and will be awarded the “Murderer and Victim” missable trophy/achievement.
