I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream is based on a short story by acclaimed writer Harlan Ellison. In the book, a near-godlike computer named AM has wiped out all of humanity, save for five people, who are trapped under the ground and tortured for all eternity.

Upcoming PC, Mac, Linux, and mobile (and potentially PS4, Switch, and Xbox One) game, Phoenix Springs, launches on Kickstarter seeking a modest sum.

In 1995, a video game adaptation of I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream was developed, with Harlan Ellison on board providing the voice of AM. The game is notable for itsincredibly disturbing content, as well as offering a potential happy ending that the original short story lacked.

I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream has been rereleased on mobile phones and GoG in the past, but the time has come for it to reach an even bigger audience, asNight Dive Studios has announcedon BlueSky that the game is coming to PlayStation 4/5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S on March 27.

While no footage of the console ports has been released, the officialPlayStationStore page does have an outline of the game’s content. It’s unclear whether the game will feature new updated visuals, though it will most certainly have anew control schemefor joypads/joysticks.

It’s unclear if this new port will contain any of the cut content from the original version, as it’s well known that I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream originally had some much darker and violent scenes that were cut from the original PC release.

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream is a phenomenal game, but new players need to be wary, as it deals with someincredibly dark subject matter, and it won’t be to everyone’s taste.
