Hate is a strong word, but when it comes to anime characters, some just seem to inspire that negative reaction in viewers. It could be due to things they’ve done or simply how they’re written, but they’ve managed to earn a pretty bad reputation among the viewers.

While some of you wish these characters would disappear altogether, they actually serve a purpose in providing a contrast to the more likable andheroic characters. In fact, they can even make critics and fans alike invested in a show. That being said, here are the ones who have earned their place on the list of the most hated.
9Chiho Sasaki – The Devil Is A Part-Timer!
Fans loved the chemistry between Emi Yuusha and Sadao Maou in the popular reverseIsekai series. But in TheDevil Is A Part-Timer!Season 2 and the LN, Chiho has been given more screen time with Maou, which seems to go against the original purpose of introducing Alas Ramus as a plot device to develop Emi and Maou’s relationship through co-parenting.
That’s why Chiho has received a lot of hate from the anime community for pursuing the Demon Lord. As nice as she is, there’s just something about her that the Isekai fandom finds annoying. To top it all, the author of the story is deliberately trying to expand Chiho’s role beyond that of a mere side character.

8Koichi Shido – Highschool of the Dead
If there were a list of the worstanime teachers, Koichi Shido would be at the top. In a world with a zombie apocalypse, he decided to prioritize his own life over his students'. Many have died as a result of his selfishness, and he doesn’t seem to have any regrets about it.
Koichi is also the worst kind of person who brainwashed a group of underage high school students into adult activities with the excuse of repopulating the earth. While his broken childhood might explain his superiority complex and some of his psychopathic tendencies, it doesn’t stop fans from hating him passionately.

7Miki Kawai – A Silent Voice
A Silent Voice did an amazing job portraying the flaws of people. However, Miki Kawai’s flaws are hard to embrace. She’s often seen playing the victim, which really gets under the skin of viewers. Back in elementary school, when the teacher asked if Shoya was bullying Shouko alone, Miki threw all the blame at him and started crying.

A bully with an innocent facade, she’s indeed quite self-obsessed and can never seem to admit her faults. On the other hand, Naoka Ueno may have done some awful things, but at least she’s aware of her actions and how she’s perceived by others.
6Floch Forster – Attack On Titan
Floch is the new guy to hate after Gabi inAttack On Titan! Driven by the same vengeful motives as Gabi, he has committed unspeakable acts against those he once called family. After joining the Yeagerists, he even embraced Eren’s fascist ideology and supported his genocide.

Isayama has crafted Floch as a quintessential villain, and his character arc is one of the most compelling in the show’s lineup of antagonists. Nonetheless, he is cowardly in nature and has been abackground characterfor the most part. Now in Eren’s absence, he is attempting to assert his authority over Paradise Island.
5Kazuya Kinoshita – Rent A Girlfriend
Kazuya’s indecisiveness in relationships is the single most reason why bothRent A Girlfriendanime and manga are dragging on forever. While he’s a good and supportive person at heart, Kazuya always ends up hurting people who care about him.
On top of that, his crybaby attitude is a major turn-off for fans. At first, he used the rental service to get over a breakup, but now he’s bouncing between different rental girlfriends and causing all kinds of unnecessary drama. It’s enough to make him the most annoying protagonist ever!

4Malty S Melromarc – The Rising Of The Shield Hero
One of the major antagonists of the first season, Malty earned the nickname “B*tch” by Naofumi for tarnishing his noble hero reputation. She falsely accused him of having his way with her without consent and manipulated the kingdom into banishing him. This pushed the Shield Hero into eternal despair.
Worse, Malty’s thirst for personal gain drove her to attempt the murder of her own sister, the crown princess. Fans are so fed up with her antics that there’s an entire page on Wiki Fandom detailing all the reasons to despise her.

3Shou Tucker – Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
As long as FMAB rules on MyAnimeList as thegreatest animeever made, Shou Tucker will continue to be remembered as one of the vilest villains in anime history. Tucker was a state alchemist who used his own family members as experiments to keep his license.

The Elric brothers and the fans were horrified to learn the truth: Tucker had used his wife, daughter Nina, and even their dog to make chimeras. Nina was one sweet child, and the thought of such heinous acts being committed against her by her own father was enough for fans to hate Tucker forever.
2Rachel – Tower Of God
Tower Of God’s Rachel regularly gets grilled by the anime community on the internet. Fans crack jokes about how quickly she became one of the most hated characters, even faster than she climbed the Tower. This is because, for the major half of the show, she built up a good-girl image for herself, only to surprise the fans in the season 1 finale.
It turns out she was faking her disability and betrayed Baam by pushing him off the tower. Viewers initially supported their dynamics, but her betrayal changed everyone’s perception. As more chapters of the manhwa get adapted into anime, Rachel will continue to “climb” to the top of this list.

1Griffith – Berserk
Looks can be deceiving, as behind these angelic feathers lies a monster in every sense of the word. From the iconic Manga,Berserk, Griffith’s popularity took a nosedive when he betrayed Guts (his longtime friend) and the Band of Hawks.
Griffith’s jealousy and ego got the better of him when Guts defeated him in a duel to pursue his own path. He sacrificed his comrades to become a demon called Femto. Griffith then sexually assaulted Gut’s girlfriend Casca, forcing him to watch his vile act till he finished. His misogynistic actions forever disgust the fans.
