Before Gamescom 2018, developerBuka Entertainment delayedRedeemer: Enhanced Editionand9 Monkeys of Shaolinto fall 2018 and Winter 2019, respectively. That being said, Buka went quiet shortly afterwards, delaying both titles further into 2019. Fortunately, an official release for both of those titles as well as the console version ofAsh of Godsseem to be on the horizon as Buka Entertainment officially announced their distribution partnership with Koch Media today.
Koch Media is well known as the German parent company of Deep Silver, publisher of titles likeSaints Row IVandKingdom Come: Deliverance.Interestingly, Koch Media was acquired by theever-growingTHQ Nordiclast year, so it seems that 9Monkeys of Shaolin, Ash of Gods, andRedeemer: Enhanced Editionare just the latest titles to fall under THQ Nordic’s umbrella.
Buka Entertainment seems pretty enthusiastic about finding a partner to handle physical and digital distribution of its three games, with PR Manager Artem Studenikin going as far as to say that this partnership will “exceed all expectations and help us to reach players around the world.” Koch Media Head of Communications Jörn Fahrbach also voiced his positive opinion on the partnership.
“We are happy that Buka Entertainment chose us as a distribution partner. Their games fit perfectly in our portfolio, as they are offering multi-plaform titles for an attractive price,” Jörn said. “We all at Koch Media are looking forward to support these unique titles with our experience both in marketing as well as sales, across the different territories, stores, and platforms.”
As for the games themselves,Redeemer: Enhanced Editionis a console port of a 2017 PC beat ‘em up that focuses on brutal combat. Buka Entertainment and Koch Media plan on releasing that game in Q2 2019. Meanwhile,9 Monkeys of Shaolinis another beat ‘em up from the developer ofRedeemer, Sobaka Studio, but it’s a bit more stylized and is set in Medieval China. Finally,Ash of Godsis a turn-based RPG with an emphasis on beautiful art and storytelling from developer AurumDust.
