A lot of what gets talked about when it comes to Nicole Kidman isn’t really her acting, but her height. Being one of the tallest actresses in Hollywood, she often faces some challenges when she’s in the spotlight. At the recent Governors Awards 2024, she had to make a small adjustment to her look, just to be able to speak into the microphone on stage.

However, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened, and the public seems to have taken it in stride. Among many other stars, Kidman was at the event as one of the presenters to give an award to legendary casting director Juliet Taylor.

Many artists were invited, some of them to present awards.Nicole Kidmanwas there for that exact job, but she kind of “broke the rules” when shepresentedthe honorary Oscar to the legendary Juliet Taylor. The casting director is best known for working on tons ofWoody Allenfilms, making her only the second person in her field to receive the honor.

The actress, standing at 5 ft 11 inches, had to take off her heels to comfortably stand at the microphone level. In doing so, she got a few laughs from the audience, and the moment was even shared on social media:

This isn’t the first time Kidman has gone barefoot at a ceremony. One user made sure to point this out by posting old photos of the actress without shoes on the red carpet at theCannes Film Festivalin 2003:

Another time this happened was at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards. A photo shows her next to her husband,Keith Urban, at the ceremony, chatting withSelena Gomez. Both were barefoot, and it seems it was a show of solidarity from Kidman, as Gomez had broken her heels:

However, aside from having to go barefoot at official events, the truth is that Kidman has been through a lot in her career, and today things aren’t going so well. Recently, she admitted that the current situation in the film industry is turning out to be tough not just for her, but for all professionals.

Nicole Kidman Says She Is Concerned About The Film Industry

Kidman gave an exclusive interview toVanity Fair, talking about her upcoming projects, likeBabygirl, and personal challenges. However, she also took the opportunity to share her thoughts on the film industry and its future. She pointed out that, nowadays, everything is harder to get approved.

As a well-established actress in Hollywood, having started her career at a very young age, she has built a strong background and learned exactly how everything works in the industry. That’s why she can clearly see how things are unfolding now.

In her view, it’s been difficult for any project, whether it’s a movie or a series, to get an immediate “yes” from the people who decide whether there’s room for it to move forward or not:

Everything’s hard now. Actually everything. I mean, maybe not Deadpool, but there’s nothing that’s, “Oh my gosh. Yep. This is it. Greenlight, let’s go.” Or maybe it’s just the things that I do. [Laughs] I just think that’s the nature of what we’re dealing with now. Things are shrinking in terms of shows being done and films being made. I definitely feel it. I’m sure most people in the industry feel it. I know the crews feel it. I know writers feel it.

She mentioned that everything has its ups and downs, and she’s “riding that rollercoaster.” One piece of advice she also gives to her children is to seize opportunities and take a chance, because at least they won’t regret not trying. It seems that, in Hollywood, that’s the secret, especially in the current situation.

Also, when asked if she was afraid of the increasing difficulty in the industry, she said she didn’t know if it scared her, but that she thinks it“requires more aligning with the right people, and pooling our resources, and choosing to not spread yourself too thin, so that you have the energy and the desire to keep moving forward.”
