I loveDark Souls, so I was excited to see that several previous bosses from the series would be appearing inElden Ring Nightreign. While I am not disappointed with the bosses that are currently in the game, I am disappointed by how few of them there are. Currently, there are only a total of six.
Elden Ring Nightreign: 8 Best Nightfarer Characters, Ranked
Who should you main?
As it stands, you can expect to find the Dancer of the Boreal Valley, Nameless King, Centipede Demon, Gaping Dragon, Smelter Demon, and The Duke’s Dear Freja. Some major fights are missing from the series that I think should have been added from the beginning that would fit in perfectly.

Let’s take a look at ten good options that FromSoftware could bring into Nightreign and revamp in just enough ways to make them fun and interesting in the new game. Keep in mind, these aren’t necessarily the actualbestbosses in the franchise, but they’re ones that would make the most sense to pull over into this new format.
10Gravelord Nito
Even More Skeletons
Gravelord Nito is a fight that I really enjoy in Dark Souls. When going it alone, this one can be fairly difficult thanks to Nito’s various summons. Still, I think Nightreign could make him even cooler.
Bringing him into Elden Ring Nightreign in his current state would be giving him a death sentence since we already know his tricks. Instead, if FromSoftware increased the speed of his attacks, gave him more skeletal minions that respawn, and buffed him with more AOEs, his fight would be ten times better and fit the Nightreign setting perfectly.

There’s a lot that can be done here, and it would be amazing to see Nito come to life with a fresh new coat of paint and an even more sinister look about him.
9Soul Of Cinder
Feels Worthy Of Elden Ring
The Soul of Cinder is the boss that you face at the end of the base game of Dark Souls 3, and he is a major threat. Similar to the Nameless King, the Soul of Cinder has fast-paced attacks that are difficult to dodge, making the fight feel like it could easily fit into Nightreign without much change.
I would love to see the Soul of Cinder make a return with a new phase transition to keep players guessing. In Dark Souls 3, this boss had four different move sets based on strength, dexterity, intelligence, and faith.

Dark Souls 3: 10 Hardest Bosses, Ranked By Difficulty
As the pinnacle of the trilogy, Dark Souls 3 has some amazing boss fights. These are the hardest of them.
If this boss were to be brought back, FromSoftware could give it two new movesets based on the Elden Ring spells and incantations: one for arcane that deals bleed damage, and one for thedragon incantations.

8Darklurker
This One Could Be A Headache
Darklurker is a boss that was very annoying to find in Dark Souls 2 because you had to complete multiple steps to gain access to the fight. When I finally reached it, I will admit I found the boss underwhelming. That’s also the reason I think it deserves to be in Elden Ring Nightreign get a second chance.
FromSoftware did amazing work revamping the Dark Souls 2 bosses that are already in Elden Ring Nightreign. As such, Darklurker could get a major enhancement with new spells based on the ones in the game and ones found in Dark Souls 2. We could also see the boss split into multiple enemies, not just two.

There is a lot of opportunity in this fight to make it amazing, from shrouding an entire arena in darkness to hide him, to making him attack with flurries of blows that are difficult to dodge. It would be worth seeing and translates nicely to the idea of three players fighting it at once.
7Lud And Zallen, The King’s Pets
The Dreaded Pair From DS2’s DLC
Lud and Zallen gave plenty of players a difficult time in the Dark Souls 2 DLC, and I was one of them. With that being said, the overall fight is pretty great when you think about it from the Elden Ring Nightreign perspective.
With one of the pets being more melee-focused and the other being more magic-focused, FromSoftware could make the fight interesting by giving Zallen unique spells or even Glintblade sorceries. Lud could receive some more fast-paced attacks to make him even more deadly as well.
One of the biggest changes that I would like to see in this fight, outside of a general speed increase and additional attacks, is the addition of Aava. Adding her to this fight and making it so you need to deal with an invisible tiger while also managing Lud and Zallen would make things interesting.
6The Four Kings
Fight All Five At Once
If you know the Four Kings boss fight in Dark Souls, you know that there areactuallyfive kings. The fight is very interesting in that you fight each of the kings in the abyss, where everything is pitch black.
If you deal enough damage quickly, you might not even realize that multiple bosses can attack you at once in this fight. This boss has always been a DPS race, with more kings spawning into the arena if you take too long to deal with the others.
10 Things You Never Knew About The Making Of Dark Souls
Dark Souls is a wildly popular franchise, but not everything about the making of the first game is common knowledge.
Despite the boss fight being fairly slow in the original game, it is one of the most deserving to be brought into Nightreign. This is because of the potential of fighting all four (or five) kings at one time to make the fight interesting. Plus, changing the arena into the abyss while you fight the kings would be amazing in the Elden Ring setting.
5Velstadt, The Royal Aegis
A True Champion Brought Back
Velstadt is one of the more headache-inducing bosses from Dark Souls 2 thanks to his powerful strikes, massive AOE attacks, and dark magic. All of this, however, makes him perfect to bring back for Nightreign.
Velstadt needs a lot of work, similar to the Smelter Demon, but with some tender love and care, FromSoftware could make him one of the more interesting bosses in the game. Give Velstadt some new dark magic, make him attack with more ferocity, and pair him with some minions.
I think it’s been really cool to see Dark Souls 2 specifically get some extra attention and chances at redemption in Nightreign, and Velstadt coming back would be another great example.
4Yhorm The Giant
I Want To Fight A Giant Enemy
Elden Ring brought back giant enemies, and it is typically a blast to fight them. If we can take down massive flame golems in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, then Yhorm can also fit into the scale of the game just fine.
Despitethe obvious gimmick in Dark Souls 3,Yhorm is one of my favorite fights. He is massive, extremely intimidating, and difficult to take down if you fight him without the Storm Ruler sword.
I think bringing a massive enemy into Nightreign like Yhorm would help switch things up and make things more interesting. Yhorm could be treated as a world boss that you may see from a distance, or maybe even a world event where giants are storming the land. Fighting him with Guardian’s Catarina set would be extra special, too.
3Ornstein And Smough
Finally, Some Teammates To Divide These Two With
Ornstein and Smough are perhaps the most recognizable duo bosses from the Souls series, and are one of thebetter multiphase fightsthat have come out of the franchise. I have to agree with the community and request Ornstein and Smough make a return in Elden Ring Nightreign.
From Software won’t need to make many changes, if any, to this fight to make it work well in Elden Ring Nightreign. One of the biggest additions I can think of is that the pair could have the potential to drop different loot depending on whether you kill giant Smough or giant Ornstein at the end of the fight.
Overall, O&S would work well in Nightreign thanks to their already difficult tactics and ability to gang up on you. The only thing that might need changing is the speed at which Smough attacks to make him more deadly. He currently moves at such a slow pace, it’s almost a crime if he manages to hit you.
2Knight Artorias And Great Grey Wolf Sif
The Best Pair
I will forever put this pair together despite never appearing in the same place at the same time during Dark Souls. There is no denying that the Artorias fight is one of the best battles of all time, and it could even be amplified if he were accompanied by his buddy, Great Gray Wolf Sif.
Seeing these two side-by-side and supporting each other in combat would be a bit of a magical experience. Not only would fans of the series love to see the pair unite in an epic boss battle, but it would also makes each of these opponents even more formidable.
This would be a fast-paced and difficult fight that fans crave, and it could be far better than any of the fights currently in the game since Artorias is already one of themost difficult bosses in any of the Soulsborne games.
1The Pursuer
The Pursuer from Dark Souls 2 is at the top of my list for the most potential in Elden Ring Nightreign, and you need to hear me out. I don’t want to be invaded by Margit. Instead, I want to be pursued.
The invasion mechanic with Margit is cool, and it keeps players on their toes. Now, imagine this same mechanic but with the Pursuer from Dark Souls 2 lurking around every corner.
The Pursuer could appear in a random location that a player enters, track them down, and disappear when the player leaves. From that point on, the Pursuer could keep reappearing to cause havoc, making it difficult to collect items, defeat other enemies, and level up.
They could use The Pursuer like a Mr. X from Resident Evil 2, adding a whole additional layer to the tension of Nightreign.
